Oud-Zuid

Entrance of Vondelpark AmsterdamThis part is one of the wealthiest neighbourhoods of the city and here you can find Amsterdam’s most expensive real estate. In the late 1800’s the Willemspark area was built to prevent the wealthy citizens from moving to city’s like Haarlem (that were not so overcrowded). You will find the beautiful Vondelpark in this area and also very fancy boutiques at P.C. Hooftstraat. Besides the Vondelpark, the Museumplein is also part of the neighbourhood where Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum (modern and contemporary art) and Concertgebouw (the concert hall) are located. Actually de Pijp area is also part of Oud-Zuid, but I have described this neighbourhood separately, as it has a complete different atmosphere.
