De Pijp – restaurants

Bar Fisk
At this new bar they really know what cooking is all about! They have some meat dishes, but the menu is dominated by fish. You can expect dishes like fish ravioli, tuna tatami, grilled octopus, fish tartar and oysters. Every dish is a delight and prepared with a special twist. The owner and chef are both from Israel and the bar is inspired by the city Tel Aviv: there is a very chill vibe. You can sit at a table or just at the bar and have a chat with the bartender (that might poor you shots). After dinner you can stay around and have cocktails.

One of the best fish restaurants I’ve been to in Amsterdam. Address: Eerste Sweelinckstraat 23.

Spaghetteria
Spaghetteria is a great place if you want a yummy pasta for a decent price (9 to 15 euros). The menu changes daily and you can choose between six homemade pastas (made of biological flour) and some salads. They serve gluten free pasta as well. At this place there are no tables for two, Instead you will find long tables where you will join other guests. Address: Van Woustraat 123.

Ciel Blue**
Is it possible to describe this 2 Star Michelin restaurant in only a couple of sentences? Impossible. Having lunch or dinner at Ciel Blue is like entering heaven. Already in 2007 they were awarded a second Michelin Star. At Ciel Blue it is all about refined flavours, details and perfection. Every course is a small piece of art. The sommelier, Noël Vanwittenbergh will make your gastronomic experience complete as he knows what hospitality is all about. As the restaurant is located on the 23rd floor of the Okura Hotel, you will have a splendid view over the city. Address: Ferdinand Bolstraat 333.

Restaurant Sinne*
Restaurant Sinne received its first Michelin star in 2014 and it is very affordable (a three course menu for only 35 euros). It offers traditional French dishes with a Mediterranean twist. A real recommendation! Address: Ceintuurbaan 342.

Brasserie SenT
At Brasserie SenT they serve wonderful French dishes and very good wines in an intimate atmosphere. The main dishes are not too expensive (about 18 euros) and in summer they have a couple of tables outside. Address: Saenredamstraat 39.

Café Binnen Buiten
Feel like having a simple dinner among locals? Go to Café Binnen Buiten. Really nothing fancy about this place, but you can have a simple meal (salad, fish, meat fries etc) and you will feel like a Dutchman. People from the neighbourhood love to go to this place as they have a big terrace where you can enjoy the sun while having a beer and famous Dutch ‘bitterballen’ (meat-based snack, typically served with mustard). Address: Ruysdaelkade 115.
